A SECOND DAY TRIP IN ROTTERDAM

We started visiting Zus's office in the centre of Rotterdam at first. The Schieblock building stood empty for years and they managed this building to transform for temporary use as a city laboratory for architectural studios, designers, researchers and cultural institutions. It has still progressed to make multi-tenant cultural community.

After that, with Jan Jongert who is a tutor of our research group, FLOW, we visited a building for a recreation institute, which was still underconstructing, it has been renovated whole space with recycle materials, for instance, the walls were made by old airplane windows, the seats for the cinema section were made by airplane chairs and some patterns of tiles used as a bar table were used on the floor. Here are some photos below.

It will officially open in October.

They reused airplane chairs.

The city of Rotterdam was rebuilt after destroying completely during World war II and has the largest port in the Netherlands. We moved from east to south seeing some point of architectures.

Cube houses are one of famous architectures, designed by Piet Blom.

The entrance leads through the deck of a ship to a restaurant and the cruise hotel.
